With early attention from BBC Radio 1, Declan Knapp shares his debut single to
Australian audiences, Real Me via Sorta Kinda Music. <BUY IT HERE>.
At the tender age of 11, Essex raised Declan Knapp got his first set of decks. Establishing himself firmly in the Drum and Bass scene, his passion for electronic music saw him tour extensively in the UK and Europe for over ten years before a recent transition into an experimental mixture of House and Techno.
“Nothing gives me more pleasure than playing out and watching a crowd react to something I’ve written and produced. My goal is always more of that, and consistently putting out music that I hope people love...”
And love it they do, with early support from BBC Radio 1 and Jake Peach of BBC Essex and BBC Introducing, ‘Real Me’ has already garnered the attention of heavy hitters in the UK dance music scene. Influenced by UK rave, ‘Real Me’ incorporates classic rave sounds, as well as the surprising addition of an RnB vocal sample, demonstrating the versatility and talent of a true artist dedicated to their craft. “Real Me is quite apt” says Knapp, ‘as my musical style can’t really be put into one category.’ Delivering some delightful Tech undertones and some sneaky synth stabs ‘Real Me’ is a stunner that is perfect for late nights (and early mornings) on the dance floor and has attracted early support from Don Diablo and Ritchie Hawtin.
Knapp’s singles thus far include popular 2021 release ‘Metanoia’ which was compared to ‘Bicep’ by Jaguar, and ‘Eyes are Wide’ featuring vocals from Kloe Hunt were embraced by BBC Radio 1. His track ‘Violet’ made it to the top ten of the Hypeddit chart for Progressive House. ‘Real Me’ is Knapp’s debut single released under Australian Independent Record label <Sorta Kinda Music> and is set to establish the artist firmly into the Australian dance music scene and beyond. Is a tour on the cards for Knapp?
“It’s going to sound cliché, but travel plays a massive part of my musical influence. It’s great to escape for a while, take a break and soak up some new culture,’ reflects Knapp, ‘...this has been difficult during the past couple of years, and I can’t wait to go on tour!’.
In support of the new single, Declan has recorded a sweltering guest mix for Sorta Kinda Music which you can listen to <here>.
‘Real Me’ is out on 15 July via Sorta Kinda Music, available on Beatport, Apple Music, Spotify, Traxsource and all major streaming services. <Links>
